Imbolc Incense Recipe


The coven is busy preparing for Imbolc. Here is the incense we whipped up last weekend.
This powered incense can be cast into the fire or burned on a charcoal briquette.
3 parts Myrrh
3 parts Frankincense
2 parts Dragon's Blood
1 part Cinnamon
1 part Benzoin
1/2 part Sandalwood

Blend each ingredient in a coffee grinder (dedicated to this purpose)
Combine powders in a red or yellow bowl.

Clearing Incense


For this spell, you will need:
  1. Grind up each herb or resin one at at time, adding to the mixing bowl
  2. When ingredients are powdered and in the bowl, mix it up with you hands (or a wooden spoon if you prefer)
  3. As you are combining the powders, use your powers of intention. Themes are banishing, clearing, purification, letting go, release, cutting cords & bonds that no longer serve you.
  4. This incense is powdered for use on a charcoal in a cauldron or open fire.

Mabon Incense

An incense can be made combining the following:
2 parts Benzoin
1 part Myrrh
1 part Red Rose Petals
1 part White Sage
1 part Solomon`s Seal
optionally1 part Pine or 1 part Sandalwood

For use during Mabon rites and celebrations.

Lughnasa Incense


For this spell, you will need:
  • 3 parts Frankincense
  • 2 parts Sandalwood
  • 1 part Rose
  • 1 part Chamomile
  • 1 part lemon balm
  • a dedicated coffee grinder (for herbs exclusively)
  • wood or glass mixing bowl
  • glass jar to store incense
  1. Grind up each herb or resin one at at time, adding to the mixing bowl
  2. When ingredients are powdered and in the bowl, mix it up with you hands (or a wooden spoon if you prefer)
  3. As you are combining the powders, use your powers of intention. Themes are harvest, gratitude, Lugh, Sun energy, community.
  4. This incense is powdered for use on a charcoal or open fire.
